The XL BAOBAB BAG is the first from my MADE IN AFRICA kiondo collection. Handwoven from baobab bark in beautiful tones of natural plant-based dyes in an intricate weave of stripes... including black, muddy brown and natural. This very rare bag.. I only found two of this quality on my first meeting with a group of weavers in Nairobi and is finished with recycled black leather.
Handwoven by skilled female artisans in Kenya, the BAOBAB BAG is definitely some of the best weaving I have seen this visit. Impeccably crafted, these bags are made from sustainably sourced baobab bark, and crafted using traditional East African weaving techniques.
It typically takes a weaver 2-3 weeks to complete a bag as they manage their families and other work commitments, weaving is done when they have the time outside of their busy lives. Weaving provides an alternative income for the women and their families, creating cash flow and empowerment. Your purchase will go directly back into the communities I have discovered here and the purchase of more baskets and the development of a community for the long term with love and support.
This roomy beauty makes for a great market, beach or everyday bag, especially if you carry your life around with you like I do! ;) Also large enough for everything you need on a flight or a weekend away. Of serious quality this stunning #striperight will last you a lifetime.
